Feeding

 

 

Jillian Uses an Infinity EnteraLite Food Pump. Her current RATE is 540 ml per hour. Her current DOSE is 500 ml. 

She eats at 7:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with 400 ml of each feeding being Nourish (Functional Formularies Nourish Organic Pediatric Meal Replacement) and 100 ml being room temperature tap water. 

     

Jillian needs to be vented prior to each feeding. While laying flat on her back, insert a luer slip syringe without the plunger into her g-tube feeding port.

Jillian needs to be flushed after each feeding with 50 ml of room temperature tap water.

Jillian uses a Permobil M3 as her primary wheelchair for mobility. Although it does have a head array for self driving, she has opted not to use that feature. She will need a trained attendant to operate her wheelchair.     On the Attendant Control, push and release the left toggle to power on the wheelchair. It will quickly run through its BIOS and Self Check. Do not attempt to operate until the displays show "Attendant". Using the right toggle, adjust the wheelchair's speed to the appropriate speed for the conditions and user.   To move the wheelchair in manual, or free-wheel mode, locate the large knobs on the front of the motors near the drive wheel and rotate both to the unlock position with the wheelchair off to disengage the motors. Be careful of any slopes because the wheelchair will not have any brakes.

Communication

Jillian uses a Tobii Dynavox I-13 communication device with TD Snap AAC software. Her access method is eye gaze so positioning is critical for her to access her device. In order for the device to see her eyes, the infrared lights/cameras on the bar at the bottom of her screen must be on and have a clear view at the right distance and position. The internal batteries of the I-13 are weak and do not last long. We have two methods to keep her device powered on for a full day. First, the device will deplete the ZeroKor AC Inverter/Charger (Charger 1).   Once the ZeroKor is depleted, the secondary backup battery can be used. First, switch the power jack on the side of the Tobii from the one labeled "Charger 1" to the one labeled "Charger 2". Next, turn on the OmniCharge Charger (Charger 2) by pressing and holding the Power Button on for approximately three seconds (Four LED lights will come on).
